Illinois first lady Diana Rauner names chief of staff

The wife of Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner has named Emily Bastedo as her new chief of staff.  Bastedo of Elmhurst is the associate counsel general in the governor's office, were she serves as the legal liaison to 10 state agencies, boards and commissions.

The governor's office says Bastedo shares Diana Rauner's passion for education. Bastedo is a member of the Elmhurst District 205 school board and serves on its Finance and Operations Committee and Policy Committee.

Her salary will be $100,000, the same as her predecessor.   Diana Rauner's former chief of staff was Sara Wojcicki Jimenez. She was appointed to the state House in November.
