Lang seeks deal with Rauner on medical marijuana extension

Illinois Rep. Lou Lang says he won't try to override Gov. Bruce Rauner's veto of an extension to the state's medical marijuana program.

Lang says the governor's office has pledged to negotiate "a mutually acceptable compromise."

In a veto letter last month, Rauner said he would agree to extend the program for four months, ending it at the end of April 2018.

Lawmakers had sent him a bill that would effectively extend it through most of 2019.  The extension is meant to make up for delays to the pilot program under former Gov. Pat Quinn.
