Chicago's Archbishop Cupich dons pallium

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Archbishop BlaseCupich has officially received the woolen vestment that popes present to archbishops. Cupich donned the pallium, or wool scarf, on Sunday in a rare ceremony at Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral. Cupich received the pallium from Pope Francis earlier this year, but didn't wear it until Sunday, which was determined by the pope. Previous bishops traveled to Rome for the traditional ceremony. Cupich told the congregation that it is placed on the shoulders to remind the one wearing it, and the church he serves, that they are a community that goes after lost sheep. He says those are not only sheep who have strayed but those who are forgotten, ignored or overlooked. Cupich is the leader of more than 2 million Roman Catholics in the Chicago area.
