Jury determines suspect is fit for trial in cop's death

A Cook County jury had decided a man accused of killing a Chicago police officer is mentally fit for trial.

The jury decided Marcus Floyd was mentally fit - despite an amnesia claim - to stand trial in the killing of off-duty Chicago police Officer Thomas Wortham IV. 

Public defender David McMahon contended Floyd suffered "retrograde amnesia" after losing massive amounts of blood and suffering two heart attacks. 

Floyd was shot by the father of the 30-year-old Wortham IV, who was killed in a May 2010 shootout with men trying to steal his motorcycle.

Two men, Paris McGee and Toyious Taylor, have been convicted of Wortham's murder and sentenced to life in prison.
