Despite huge pushes to alter Illinois' energy policies, it appears none will advance before the end of the month when the General Assembly is set to adjourn.
Exelon has said its Byron, Clinton and Quad Cities nuclear stations are in danger of closing without a legislative fix. Renewable energy proponents had also pushed to prop up sources like solar and wind.
But Democratic Representative Linda Chapa LaVia who chairs the House Energy Committee says neither will pass by May 31st.
"I think what will end up happening is, we'll compromise. we'll get everybody to the table and we'll compromise on one omnibus bill. And work together and go forward. 'Cause, especially in energy, it's something that you can't get wrong."
She says that'll take time. ChapaLaVia says she thinks the various parties need to be patient, and there's room to negotiate.
