5 ex-NIU fraternity members due in court in hazing case

Five former Northern Illinois University fraternity members are expected to enter plea agreements in a felony hazing case involving the death of a pledge in 2012.

The former Pi Kappa Alpha members have negotiated agreements with the DeKalb County State's Attorney's Office. They are scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.

Seventeen others face less serious charges. At least 12 also are scheduled to appear in court Friday.

David Bogenberger was 19-years-old when he died at the fraternity house. A toxicology report said his blood-alcohol content was 0.351%. The NIU chapter of the fraternity was closed.

An attorney for Bogenberger's family previously said that the five men aren't expected to face jail time if the judge accepts the plea agreements.
