A spokeswoman for Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner's office says his administration will participate fully in any judicial review of the medical marijuana license selection process.
The comment came Wednesday in response to a lawsuit from a company that lost in the competition for a marijuana business license. The company filed a lawsuit late Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court against the Illinois Department of Agriculture claiming the agency broke its own rules.
Rauner spokeswoman Catherine Kelly says the administration took steps to fix a process begun under former Gov. Pat Quinn, but couldn't "entirely eliminate" the risk of lawsuits.
She says the Rauner administration will "comply with any orders issued by a court as it relates to this particular applicant or any other applicant that seeks a judicial review."
