Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the death of 20-year old Vicente Mundo, a University of Illinois student who disappeared just over a week ago. Prosecutors have charged 21-year old Daniel Gonzalez of Cicero and 21-year old Reginald Scott of Champaign with first-degree murder.
Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh says Mundo was shot to death a week ago Sunday over a small amount of marijuana and cash. He says the murder took place in a parking garage in Champaign’s Campustown District, located at Mundo’s apartment building. Walsh says the two then took Mundo’s body to a rural area in southwest Champaign. His remains were discovered there Saturday morning.
The two suspects are students at Parkland Community College in Champaign.
