Obama, amid demonstrators, touts immigration

President Barack Obama came home to Chicago on Tuesday continuing to sell his executive action on immigration.
Obama reiterated to the cheering crowd of more than 18 hundred what he said last week...families can stay together legally if they’ve been here for more than five years.

"I’m taking new steps to deal responsibly with the millions of immigrants who already live here. Including here Chicago," said Obama.

Midway through his speech, he was interrupted several times by demonstrators.

"That is a lie! You’ve been deporting families. And you continue to deport them!"

Illinois U.S. Representative Luis Gutierrez was disappointed the President’s remarks were overshadowed.

"They’re protesting this president? You know it took awhile but he listened," said Gutierrez.

Gutierrez hopes Congressional Republicans will listen to him and the president as the debate continues.
