On this week's episode of Out and About, Angela Weck, Executive Director of the Peoria Area World Affairs Council, and Elena Gabor, Associate Professor of Communication at Bradley University talk about Central Illinois GlobalFest 2023.

GlobalFest brings together and celebrates people of different cultural backgrounds who work and live in Central Illinois. This culturally immersive experience celebrates the ethnic diversity and inclusion in our region. GlobalFest may not be the first multicultural event in Peoria, but it promises to be the largest event of its kind, inviting community members to experience global music, dance, displays, costumes, languages and international foods found in Peoria.

The public will learn more about the cultural groups who study, work, and live in Central Illinois and appreciate the diversity of our region all while having fun and learning about other cultures. Bringing cultural groups together under one roof for a day helps the public appreciate their uniqueness, similarities, and shared past.

Global Fest will open its doors to the public on Saturday, February 11 at 4:00 pm at Five Points Washington. Tickets can be found on the GlobalFest eventbrite page.

Jody Holtz is WCBU's assistant program and development director, All Things Considered host, as well as the producer of WCBU’s arts and culture podcast Out and About.
