New printers for Peoria District 150 facilities

Peoria Public Radio

Peoria School District 150 is getting new multi-functional printers system wide .

It's no small matter. It's estimated the district creates in excess of 30-million copies a year.

The lease purchase deal is with CDS Office Technologies. It will take 113 printers to outfit the district's schools, administrative offices and central print shop.

The lease purchase contract will cost the district less than $117,000 annually for the five-year life of the deal. CDS Office Technologies also has the service contract amounting to $203,100 a year, locked in for four-years.

Mark Wilcockson  is District 150's Treasurer. He says many printers in the school system are 10-years-old and that's about double the useful lifespan of an office copier. Wilcockson says some of the printers are old enough it's difficult to fit them with repair parts.

The treasurer told the school board, the competitive nature of the contract the district's secured means it makes sense to replace the printers district-wide. The total of the lease purchase and service contracts comes in about $30,000 under what the district budgeted for 2015.

The new printers are being installed after November 5th. All District 150 facilities are expected to have new multi-functional copiers by the end of the month.

The Peoria Public School board also approved $1.05 million for its self-funded medical and prescription plan for next calendar year. The renewed contract amounts to slight changes in the coverage and a 3.5-percent  increase in premium cost for district employees.
