New Exhibits on Display at Wheels O' Time Museum

This week, we're talking with Marcia Johnson about the Wheels O' Time, located just off North Knoxville Avenue in Dunlap. Since our last conversation, the museum has opened a new exhibit -- the LeTourneau steel house. It's one of the few remaining examples of this pre-war attempt to manufacture standardized affordable housing. The effort to move the steel house to its new location involved a collaborative effort from several local organizations.

Also new this year is a collection of miniatures, depicting a World War II era military encampment. The collection was assembled by a resident of Washington, IL. Some of the pieces have been on display in the past, but this is the first time the full collection has been exhibited.

Johnson talks about some of the other exhibits which especially appeal to children, about the team of volunteers who keep the museum going, and some of the visitors the museum is able to draw from out of state to visit central Illinois.

The Wheels  O' Time Museum is open Wednesdays through Sundays, until the end of October. It re-opens every year in May.
