One dead after New Year's Eve shooting outside Lewistown grocery store

An Ipava man faces first-degree murder charges in Fulton County after a fatal shooting outside a Lewistown grocery store on New Year's Eve.

Nicholas Pratt, 33, was arrested for in connection with the death of 39-year-old Levi Blair of Canton. Pratt also faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and endangering the health or life of a child.

Blair was shot in the head at the County Market, 518 S. Main St., shortly before 7 p.m. on Dec. 31. He was pronounced dead a short time later at Graham Hospital in Canton.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday. Authorities at the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Lewistown Police, Illinois State Police and the Fulton County Coroner's Office are investigating the case.
