The mother of an 8-year-old Peoria boy who died of "extreme neglect and abuse" pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder.
Stephanie Jones made the guilty plea on one count of first-degree murder in Peoria County Circuit Court. Five other counts were dropped.
Jones will be sentenced Feb. 7.
Navin Jones died on March 29, 2022 in the Center Bluff home of his parents. He weighed just 38 pounds at the time of his death.
His father, Brandon Walker, also is charged with his son's murder. Stephanie Jones and Walker's cases were split up.
Walker's trial is set to begin Monday in Peoria.
