St. Margaret's Health seeks bankruptcy court's permission to sell 2 clinics to Carle

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

Saint Margaret's Health is asking a federal bankruptcy court for permission to sell two of its former clinics to the Carle Foundation in Urbana.

Carle operates several central Illinois hospitals, including Methodist, Proctor, Pekin, and Eureka.

St. Margaret's last week filed paperwork to offload its former clinics at 1302 N. Greenwood in Spring Valley and 528-530 Edward St. in Henry to Carle for a total $400,000.

In a statement, a Carle spokesperson says the health care provider hasn't made any decisions regarding the properties or its presence in Spring Valley or Henry.

There's no word yet on the future of the former St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley.

OSF HealthCare is seeking to buy the former Peru hospital and select other former St. Margaret's properties. A federal bankruptcy judge has given a preliminary nod of approval to that sale, with a final hearing currently set for Oct. 18 in Chicago.
