The Costume Trunk, a fixture of Peoria's West Main Street for more than 40 years.

After opening 1981, the Costume Trunk on West Main Street helped provide the theatrical performances, parties and parades of Greater Peoria with all the costumes and makeup they needed. In a Facebook postThursday, owner Steve Spain announced he's ready to sell the business.

"It’s been a long running show," Spain writes. "But in every show, there is always a final curtain. So today I am officially announcing that The Costume Trunk is for sale."

The sale will include the entire two-story property at 706-710 W. Main St. According to Spain, this includes two ground- level storefronts and four studio apartments on the building's second floor.

Spain also plans to include the store's rental inventory of costumes, makeup, hats, makes, props and more in the sale.

"Maybe you will be the one to carry on this iconic Peoria business," Spain writes.

More details are expected soon.
