A former Toulon alderman now faces federal child pornography charges.
Jason Musselman, 34, is charged with child pornography production, distribution, and possession.
Musselman was initially arrested by the Illinois State Police in January on state child pornography possession charges after ISP and Homeland Security Investigations seized Musselman's electronic devices on a search warrant for his Stark County home.
Authorities said Musselman produced child pornography between 2010 and 2013. Eight adults pictured in the photos were minors at the time the photos were taken, state the charges. All eight alleged Musselman invited them to use a tanning bed in his home when they were minors. None of the adults said they knew he was recording or photographing them.
Musselman distributed pornographic images last December via the Kik messenger platform, authorities said.
Reports indicate Musselman resigned from the Toulon City Council on Monday.
Musselman faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on federal child pornography charges.
