Barn collapses in Bureau County
A barn collapsed at the Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton, about an hour north of Peoria.
What's happening to the north
Things are still calm in Central Illinois, but a storm system is sweeping through northern Illinois this afternoon.
Here's the latest update from the NWS office in Chicago:
[12:50 PM CDT 4/4/2023] This is another dangerous storm with damaging hail and wind! Golf ball sized hail was just reported in Sandwich IL! Take cover away from windows if you're in its path! #ILwx https://t.co/5o5Urq11HF

One way this storm system could play out
One NWS model shows a powerful storm system moving into the Peoria area between 6-9 p.m. More waves would move in on a cold front between 2-4 a.m. Wednesday.
Here is one model's take on how storm's may evolve later today. Much of the area will remain "capped", which will prevent storms from developing (imagine a lid on a pot of boiling water). Areas west of the IL River have the best chance of eroding the CAP by early this evening... pic.twitter.com/m7o2MRUKdu
— NWS Lincoln IL (@NWSLincolnIL) April 4, 2023
If this occurs, storms will quickly develop & become severe with the primary threat window between 6-9 pm. Additional waves of strong/severe storms will move through late tonight (after 2-4 am) into Wed morning across the entire area as a cold front moves through. #ilwx
