THE ART OF OPERA WORKSHOP SERIES: VOICE WITH ALISON MEUTH
Saturday, January 14, 2023
In the Gilmore Auditorium
Ages 9 to 13: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Ages 14 to 18: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Alison Meuth will lead workshop attendees through all things operatic performance. A lauded opera performer herself, Meuth will begin the class by focusing on the different parts of operatic performance. She will also briefly touch on the vocal technique that is used. Students will then spend the second half of the class creating their own opera. Snacks will be provided.
Alison’s Voice workshop will kick off the series of Art of Opera Workshops. The Art of Opera workshop series is put on by the Peoria Riverfront Museum to give young people a chance to experience individual components of an opera. The next one will be February 25th with Nikki Wheeler where students can learn about costume design. The final workshop will be March 25th where Juelie Gish will lead students in designing their own opera posters, like the ones in the exhibition.
Member children: $25
Non-member children: $30
