Partial demolition planned for closed Duck Creek Power Plant

The shuttered Duck Creek Power Plant in Canton will be partially demolished Sunday morning.

Vistra Corporation will bring down two chimneys and a turbine pedestal via controlled implosions.

The site is closed to the public, and security will be posted. Viewing of the demolition south of the property along a county highway is also discouraged.

Fulton County authorities say no road closures or travel impacts are expected. Vistra has a plan to mitigate dust from the implosions.

Vistra plans to demolish the remaining boiler building on November 4. The coal-fired power plant was closed in 2019.
