Abkhazia

NPR'S Anne Garrels reports that peace remains elusive in one of the longest and bloodiest ethnic conflicts in the post-Soviet era... the war between Georgia and its breakaway region of Abkhazia. There has been a tentative ceasefire for three years now, but there is little hope for a lasting peace, as the two sides remain far apart.
