NPR's Sylvia Poggioli reports from Belgrade on the most recent maneuver by Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic to quiet opposition to his government. Milosevic has instructed his Prime Minister to have the government pass a special law to accept the November 17th election results. It was his government's annulment of Opposition victories in those elections that set off two-and-a-half-months of rallies and demonstrations. Protest leaders are cautious. They say the protests will continue.
