The importance of taking care of yourself

I’m looking at a plant. It is in a pot, it has height, width, and color. My thoughts are wrapped around what it took to make it look so vibrant. Let’s look at what its needs are. A seed, soil, water, sun, and location. Some plants need more or less Sun/Water, but these are the core essentials, for it to grow. If it doesn’t get what it needs, it can possibly die.

It’s just like being a Human being. You need certain things to live and grow. Human life starts with a seed. It generally, naturally starts with the opposite sex. A male and a female. The male carries the seed in which fertilizes an egg, in which the woman carries for up to 9 months and then life is created. In a way in which God has created us as humans. We need food, water, sun, touch, and nurturing time. Like the plant, if it doesn’t get enough sun, then it gets weak and becomes wilted. Lack of vitamin D. As humans grow, you must eat the right food, that has nutrients and vitamins, that will help a human grow through the stages of maturity. These stages are: infant, Toddler, Teenager, Adult and Senior. The different stages of a plant are: sprouting, small plant, adult plant and production. As humans have off springs/children.

You must take care of yourself.

If you want to have a healthy mind, a healthy body, you must take care of yourself. Let’s take a moment to take a deep breath in…. and blow it out. This is a breathing technic to release stress, it’s called deep breathing. So, when my eyes or ears are listening to negative things it is shortening my ability to be vibrant at school, work and in relationships. We must take care of ourselves. So we must turn away negative music, negative conversations, so we can build healthy minds. Pray, so we can repent and make better choices for tomorrow.

We must also do some care for our bodies. Did you know that study shows that if you stretch it can cause your body to be more flexible and can take away your aches and pains when you go walking? It can help arthritis. Exercise is a way to relieve stress, lower blood pressure, clear your mind, so the clear your thinking. I could go on about ways to take care of your body.

Take Care of yourself

You must take care of your neighborhood. It’s where you live. It too needs things to survive and to be a good place for you to live. So, if the pipes are leaking don’t let it linger, get it fixed so that you may have a dry place to dwell. If you don’t take care of it, then you will end up paying more, because your water bill will be higher, floors may rot and so on. You must take care of your home, whether it’s an apt. or house. Not only the inside but the outside. Did you know there is a team of City Departments, ready to help you in your neighborhood? So it’s important to call We Care/ Neighborhood Development at the City. They keep track of complaints of property, code violations in your district ect. Why should you care, if someone is playing load music, you might ask? So that it doesn’t disturb you or your neighbors. You must take care of where you live. If you ever want to move out of your neighborhood, then it’s important to make sure your neighbors care for their property. So that, it doesn’t get out of control. Its an easy way for Thieves to hide behind bushes. It also makes the property look abandoned when the yard isn’t cared for. Cars left abandoned on the street with expired stickers, make a great nest for Rodents to live in. Make sure you contact the Police when you see suspicious activity. It’s your job to take care of your neighborhood. I’m thankful for Neighborhood programs like this. There are 123 Neighborhood Associations in Peoria IL, according to the City of Peoria’s website.

Taking care of yourself is, like a plant, body, and neighborhood, by giving it it’s basic needs. Please take care of yourself, so that we can create a better tomorrow!
