A female pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run accident late Saturday in South Peoria.
The Peoria Police Department said Renee Nichols, 37, was crossing the street in the 500 block of S. Western around 9:45 p.m. when a green or gray SUV headed north on Western struck her.
The driver fled the scene.
Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene by the Peoria County Coroner.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are requesting anyone with information or camera footage from a residential or business camera to call 673-4521.
