Primary elections offer local changes

Dan Walther will be the newest member of the Peoria District 150 School Board. Walther won the 3rd district school board seat with 65% of the vote to Terry Spayer’s 35%.

And for the republican primary in 11th District Peoria County Board race Greg Adamson beat Former School Board member Chris Crawford by 32%.

Peoria County voters also approved two referenda. 63% of voters supported the proposition to issue $800,000 in Library Bonds for Alpha Park Public Library District. The bonds are to pay for repairs, remodeling and improvements to the existing building. 

The annexation question for Elmwood Fire Protection District also passed with 79% of the vote.

Tazewell and Woodford County voters also had a number of choices to make in the Primary election concerning local matters.

The 4-way Republican Circuit Clerk’s race in Woodford County goes toLynn Gilbert who won with 37% of the vote.

Tazewell County Republican voters selected Shelly Hranka as their nominee for the Auditor’s Office. She earned 58% of the vote to William Shaner’s 42%.

Three referenda in Tazewell and Woodford Counties received a mix review. 72% of voters supported the proposition to create Tremont Rescue District 702.

58% of voters supported Morton School District 709’s proposition to issue $10.5 million in School Building Bonds.

And the Metamora High Schools District 122 referendum to issue more than $18.5 Million dollars in bonds failed with 54% of voters opposing it.
