A 2-year-old boy has died after suffering injuries earlier this month in a two-vehicle crash in rural Tremont.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the child, Ryle Embree of Tremont, died Friday morning after suffering multiple blunt force trauma in the March 19 collision between a UTV and a pickup truck at Locust and Townline roads. He was hospitalized in critical condition following the crash.
The boy was a passenger in the UTV. Harwood said it's unclear if he was restrained at the time of the crash.
Sisters Ashley and Sarae Embree of Minnesota were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Several others were injured.
The incident remains under investigation by authorities in Tazewell County.
