Two people are dead after they were struck by a passing vehicle on Interstate 74 early Saturday morning.
The Illinois State Police say the 28-year-old Bloomington man and 23-year-old Lockport woman were involved in a two-vehicle crash on I-74 near milepost 116 in Woodford County. That's not far from the Mackinaw Dells rest stop.
They were standing on the roadway near that crash site when a Chevrolet sedan struck one of the stopped cars and the two people. The pair were pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say the driver of the sedan failed to stop in time. They were taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
